Life as a Sensitive
Natural mediums (Sensitives) and taught mediums are different for a variety of reasons. Those who are taught can have their place in the world the same as any other person has and there are hundreds of places for them to go to for help, but I help natural mediums and this is something taught ones cannot understand. To them, all mediums are the same and they believe all people are born with the gifts to the same level Sensitives are. Some call natural mediums egotistical, elitist, deluded and all manner of things that aren’t always pleasant.
Let’s put this into perspective. Natural mediums, or Sensitives, will have had things happening to them all their lives that are classed as ‘not normal’ to everyone else in the world and that can be classed as socially or even religiously unacceptable, which is why they often hide their abilities for many years and learn not to say about things they experience. They often don’t want it all to happen and nor do they want to be called mediums due to the image that word conjures up (I don’t like being called that even now) – hence the name Sensitives. They often shy away from what’s happening and hide their ‘gifts’ from even those closest to them until a much later age for fear of ridicule or a variety of other reasons. I did exactly that and so did all the natural mediums I have ever come across.
Taught mediums are people who have never experienced all the strange things natural mediums have and so can never understand what it’s like. Some try to say they have, but just talking to them for even a short while makes it obvious they haven’t really – not as we do. They haven’t grown up feeling the need to hide things for fear of ridicule and so cannot understand anything about what Sensitives go through. Taught mediums can learn to do some of the things we can, just not to the same standards of natural mediums.
It is hard to explain to people who have never experienced all the natural phenomena from an early age just what it feels like and I am sure this is why taught mediums think they now know what we experience and yet they don’t and can’t – not really. We can guess what it might be like to be a Pavaroti, Shakespeare, Van Gogh or Margot Fonteyn and might even have experienced one or two little bits along the way, but we’ll never know what being so different is really like unless we experience it for ourselves and the same goes for being a Sensitive.
I’ll try to explain the differences in an easy to understand way. Take any other walk of life, singers is one such example. I’m sure those of you reading this can sing; some in tune, some flat as a pancake, others well enough to earn a living from it and some will be the Pavaroti’s of the world. Okay, we’ve established we can all sing, but how many of you are equal to Pavaroti or anyone of his calibre? We can all dance, but how many of you will be a Darcey Bussell or Margot Foenteyn? Very few I’ll bet and this is because even though we can all do it, only they, and others like them, were born with the gifts within them of being able to sing or dance to that incredible standard. As I’ve said, some others are born with it also and that is why they too rise to the top of their profession and we don’t.
You can just imagine Pavaroti at singing lessons in school can’t you? The children all start to sing and suddenly, his voice booms out above the rest of them naturally and in a strong manner no one else can do. No doubt some of his classmates ridiculed him and said he was showing off, as many people who are incapable of the same standard themselves will often do this through jealousy. Many young people when first discovering they can do things others can’t will often hide it away because they are embarrassed that they appear different to their peers or because they are ridiculed, laughed at or told they are showing off if they do ever dare to show what they’re capable of. Sometimes, they are avoided and made outcasts because they ‘are different’.
There are things we can all do, but a small minority will excel in their field as they were given that extra something at birth. They are to be the leaders in their field and will always stand out in their work above all others; everything comes naturally to them without effort as that is their path in life and so it is with mediumship and healing. Those born with it will excel because it is something they were chosen to be gifted with from birth just like Pavaroti and other high achievers, and the rest will do it in a more modest way.
We are all different and these differences in ability are what makes us all unique. We can’t all be followers and we can’t all be leaders. There has to be varying levels of everything in life and mediumship and healing is no different. Natural mediums are often bewildered by the abuse aimed towards them by people in the same field as themselves. Let’s face it, we’re in a strange old world with our work and so one would think others who do the same as us would be the first to understand and support us, but no, it is often the exact opposite as they cannot understand we don’t need the lessons and certificates they do. We have no need to learn and this is something they often can’t accept.
Sensitives have nowhere to go to for support or help at present as everywhere these days appears to be for Spiritualists. I am trying to change that so all those developing naturally can also have a support network just as taught mediums have. I would love to see all natural mediums throughout the world offer help to other natural mediums who need advice about their gifts. Where to go on their path, how to develop what’s there naturally and to answer the many questions they have about all the confusing things happening to them. This is why I am standing up and teaching about the differences. It is a path I have been guided to go on as part of my work. All natural mediums are shown by the spirit world where they are to be used in their work and for now, this is where they want me. It is for this reason I am putting myself in the firing line and one day who knows, maybe we’ll have as big a network for Sensitives as we do for Spiritualists.

Where Do Natural Mediums Go For Help?
Each day I receive e-mails from people who have read my books saying how they have helped answer so many questions about natural mediumship and healing. The thing is, they all want to know where they can go from there and can they join my development groups. The books help answer their questions about whether they might be natural mediums and they feel that at last they have someone who understands what they’re going through, but once the book is finished – now what? Where do they go to get the help they need to move forward and who is to help them? Why are there no development classes for natural mediums – only forced mediums?
This is where all natural mediums find themselves at some point; bereft, alone, confused about which way to turn and what to do with the gifts they’ve got. It is for this reason I would dearly love to see people such as myself set up groups all over the world where natural mediums can come to have all their questions answered by others who have been there before them; to help show what they can do and how they can use the various gifts. Sadly, many good natural mediums have been dumbed down by having to be forced into classes not at all suitable for natural development and this is why so many never get to develop to their full potential as they are taught all there is to mediumship is platform work and demonstrations when there is so much more we are to do.
As natural mediums, our development will take many years and will not be a rapid growth that can be pushed. The first lesson we all have to learn is patience as we will not fully develop our gifts until the time is right. This is why I often talk about the differences between forced and natural mediumship development. There are many groups, demonstrations and talks for those who are not naturally gifted, but there is nowhere at present (that I’ve ever heard of) for natural born mediums to go to; no one who understand what they are going through or who is helping them.
I am hoping to start touring around doing talks for this very reason and will answer as many questions as I can for people who need this help. We may not be as huge in number as those who force the gifts, but there are enough of us to make this a definite need. Sadly, the media are only interested in giving air time or column inches to the dramatic type of mediumship we see on our screens and much of this doesn’t help anyone wanting to develop naturally.
Remember, if you have any questions and need help in any way, leave a question on the ‘questions’ page and I’ll answer as soon as I am able. Thanks to all who send me e-mails, they are all read and answered and very much appreciated as are the reviews some of you have done on Amazon for me.
If you are holding a workshop or group meeting and would like me to attend for a day to do a question and answer session to help with natural development please just ask and maybe we can organise something
