How Is Spiritual Healing Done and Should One Charge?
Today I received an e-mail that had an interesting question about healing. The person wasn’t sure how it happened and asked me about it. The truth is, I have no idea how it happens as it is God doing the healing not us. I can tell you a tiny bit of what I do and I know this to be true of many natural healers, but that is all I can go by. There is mediumistic healing and psychic healing, but that is more complicated and not for this simple explanation.
Absent healing is one that confuses most people as we are doing it from a distance and often to people on the other side of the world. I always start with a prayer to God asking if they can be helped if it is His will. I also ask that the healing be done if it is in their best interests and in whatever way He deems right. You may wonder why I say if it is in their best interest. This is because we sometimes have to suffer things in this life for a reason we are unaware of. Maybe it is to help us understand what others go through and maybe it is for our own good. Besides, we are human and as humans, we will have to suffer at some time in whatever way – mental or physical. People often try to make everything all about spiritual things regardless and it might just be as simple as, they’re not well because they are human with a human body and these things happen.
The second thing I do is concentrate on the area/s affected and do a visualisation (this can be found in, A Guide’s Guide to Mediumship and Healing) on them. I have no idea how this works and I have no doubt you’ll have loads of new age types telling you they do know, but the truth is, it is not for us to say. Some things are a mystery of life and this is one of them. I am of the opinion that sometimes, we should not delve too deeply and should have the blind faith asked of us to just accept – so I do.
The other way is when you can be with the person and do a hands on healing session. Sometimes it is with touch and others times without touching but with the hands held above the area affected. It is not easy to say quickly here how it is done and what might be felt as there are many ways depending on what I feel in my hands and in what I am guided to do with each person as an individual. There is more in-depth talk about that in my books too. One thing though. No one should ever manipulate and if they try to, stop them immediately. They should also never advise medicines to take or stop taking.
This, as I say, is just a very quick answer to help a little, but another thing I was asked was, how much do I charge for a healing? I don’t – ever. No one should ever charge for healing in my opinion. Those who do, will always try to justify why they charge, but they will also try to justify why their other charges are so high too in some cases. As for absent healing - can you imagine anyone paying for that. How do you know anyone has even tried to do it for you?
The sad fact is, this may be spiritual work, but there are an awful lot of people involved in it now who aren’t at all spiritual as they know people will part with a lot of cash for readings, healing and the like so they prey on them and laugh all the way to their banks so you need to be careful and on your guard. Anyone charging a lot for anything means they are greedy – that includes the famous ones. The only charge anyone should make for healing is for travelling expenses. The only other exception is if it is a healing centre and one you know to be genuine. In those circumstances, they will usually ask for donations from those who can afford it and that is to cover the cost of the building and bills for it. That is a different matter, but please do check it is a genuine centre before forking put any money.
We as healers are used as instruments only and I believe this is so we can make people with no belief system whatsoever stop and think about whether there really is something or someone far greater than us at work. God (or whatever you call Him/it by) can do this direct without using anyone, but I do think the reason we are used is as I just mentioned. Not all people have blind faith and even those who do, know God has appointed some of us to help others in His name. This is how I do it, but I know there are others who work in different ways.
I don’t know about their methods, but one thing I do know is – there should never be an excuse for charging unless for the ones I’ve stated above. There are many who say they have had to pay out for courses to learn and so they are now charging because of that. There are also those who love the saying, ‘It is an exchange of energies’. Another good one is, ‘I do it for a living so need to charge so I can live and pay my bills’. No you don’t, that’s another excuse, get another job then and do this in your spare time. They are all excuses to charge. If you are a natural healer with gifts given from God, then you don’t need classes do you? There is far more than what I’ve said here about healing – far, far more, but there isn’t the space for that as it would take pages and pages. Make you own minds up on this one as each to their own, but you can hear how I feel about it. I hope that’s helped a bit?
Remember, all of you can help with healing by asking God and praying to Him for help for yourself or others. He does listen, it’s just many people in today’s world forget He is there for us or don’t believe He exists or will listen to them – He does.
